MalanDTV: Life Vlog 1

A lot of people ask me how I structure my day. They want to know how early I wake up, how many hours I work and what life is like without a 9–5 job.

So yesterday I decided to record my entire day for you. I’m calling it ‘MalanDTV: Life Vlog 1.’

Click here to watch it on Youtube.

I didn’t script any amazing trip to the beach, strip clubs or fancy restaurants like most reality shows do. It’s just a pretty typical Wednesday.

In the video:

  • Waking up at 5:30am in Los Angeles
  • Morning coffee and work
  • Walk to the gym on Sunset Blvd
  • Video of my workout
  • Meals throughout the day
  • Advice on split testing online marketing campaigns
  • What my minimal recording studio looks like

Comment below if you like or hate this kind of post. And if you like it, I’ll try to do more.

This was awesome. Just bought my T-shirt before this was uploaded, can’t wait for it to get here!

I suck with my dead-lifts too, so I don’t even bother with them anymore. Shouldn’t you be taking your creatine before your workout? I was under the impressions that that’s how it gives you the extra energy you need to get those last reps up.

Why not use that free time that you have testing more campaigns? Or even outsourcing it. I’m not so much worried about my split-tests or optimizations when I’m relaxing; I’m more worried about what I should be launching and the opportunities that I’m missing out on while
other affiliates are out there uploading campaigns. Especially when I get those
    campaigns that are instant wins.

    • Malan Darras

nice. t-shirts should ship on monday. I take creatine after I workout, doesn’t really matter.

And yeah i could use all my free time to launch and test new campaigns all day every day but I choose to relax and take it easy. I don’t really have a fear of missing out. i’ve got enough going on.

  • Luis Barrios

    I saw the whole video,
You have a grea life style, that’s what i’m pursuing: Freedom.

Thanks for the video, although is not motivational, have certain subliminal message

    • Malan Darras

thanks for watching the whole thing Luis, it was a long one.

  • Peter Szalay

I have seen the whole day of yours. It was a great day.We here in europe doesn’t care so much about calories.Maybe in one meal I it more as you do on your entire week, lol.But I enjoyed pretty much!

    • Malan Darras

haha thanks Peter and enjoy those calories

  • Gordon Yu

Great video! Do you have any concerns on your caffeine intake? 1 cup coffee + 2 scoops C4 + Monsters. I pretty much drink the same as you do if not more.

    • Malan Darras

I have no concerns over my coffee intake.

      • Gordon Yu

Have you tried Halo Top ice cream? The chocolate flavor is awesome! Macros: 7p4f13c for a 1/2 cup.. I would eat the whole pint on refeed day.

  • Hieu Nguyen

Awesome vid Malan! So you don’t do Intermittent Fasting anymore?

    • Malan Darras

Hey Hieu, what makes you ask that? i still do it. I ate my first food in the video at 12:30pm

      • Guest

Oh sorry, not went through the whole video. I thought your first meal is pizza at 6:30am, lol.

        • Malan Darras

Nah I actually show the clock, that was at 5:10pm and I say “It’s 5:10pm and my pizza is here” haha come on man you gotta watch the video.

  • Adam Altman

Awesome video, I would like to see more. New to AM, but have been lifting for about 10 years. Deadlift form looks good, I would just recommend making sure you keep the bar as close to your shins as possible, I see the bar got away from your shins once or twice.

    • Malan Darras

Thanks Adam and welcome to AM. I just watched and think I saw my final two reps (maybe more) the bar definitely rolls away from me. Didn’t even catch that. Thanks man!

      • lenstrom

Tuck that chin, too. Neutral spine.

        • Malan Darras

yeah my chin in way too high. A friend showed me a killer video by Mark Rippetoe. its on youtube under ‘Mark Rippetoe dead lift setup”. 2 minute video changed my form completely

  • Gilberto Hernandez

This video was awesome, really liked the advices on health, fitness and marketing. If you are into doing more of these types of videos, I would like to see more of them.

I like your crib too, nice views and pretty minimalistic. Also digging the ”stress-free abundance” lifestyle that you have, that’s ultimately what I want… Free to do what you want, when you want it — most of the time — Income will be met predictable and consistently, and it is perfect for your health and the happiness of you and your family.

btw I was surprised you didn’t wear any ”it will be ok t-shirts” that was shocking, lol

Oh, and i approve the mustard and pepper with the chicken salad… BEST-THING-EVER, all you are missing are some avocados though 🙂

    • Malan Darras

haha it was a workout day and I like to wear my CRIME shirt for the gym. For some reason it feels best. – and yeah man. MUSTARD + PEPPER = zero calories goodness.

  • Kelly Sheffield

Faithnomore! I could listen to Mike Patton sing a phonebook for the better part of a day.

It’s refreshing to hear you talk about your mindset towards AM. I get the feeling a large part of why you’re able to go about things the way you do on a daily bsis, is due to concentrating on only a few campaigns vs having a team to manage many? Or is that still the case initially?

And about tracking fitness, I still have measurements/excel sheets around somewhere from when I first start working out in high school, but I look at them in almost complete disbelief because I neglected to take progress pictures. Something I need to start doing more.

    • Malan Darras

if patton released an album of him singing the phone book I wouldn’t be surprised…

and yeah i don’t have a team. few outsourcers, but that’s it.

  • Ken L

This was really good. Lots of little things and insights that will help me. Generous of you to take the time go into such detail on so many different things. Many thanks Malan! Take care.

    • Malan Darras

      yeah man. stay tuned

  • Petri Jarvinen

TXs Man, Was thinking about the split test in the beginning, i figured it would be the speed of the page that gave the higher cvr, not the shavin? a combo? what´s your thought on that? And thanks again Malan, always a breath of fresh air getting something from you!

    • Malan Darras

      shaving more likely

  • Khoren

thanks Malan for sharing this video.I have picked couple of things regarding what to eat.I saw you have used some vinegar in your salad, would be better and healthier if you use apple cider vinegar “mother” written on it.It’s natural I drink it with water everyday 🙂

    • Malan Darras

i’ll look into it, but i doubt drinking the wrong kind of vinegar is going to kill me

  • Yussef Gilkey

I am eagerly waiting for a Vlog on relationships. I am guessing you have mixed feeling about opening that window to us. But I have a feeling it’s coming. I would personally like to know how you approach relationships now versus the past and what your perspective is now. Not so much the details into your personal life but your perspective as it relates to success and dating. That would be EPIC Malan.
