Question: Should I Start a YouTube Channel?

I’ve been thinking about something.

I think I should start a YouTube channel to answer your questions directly on video.

YouTube Channel - Malan Darras

If you think that’s a good idea and don’t need to read more click here to go to YouTube to subscribe

If you’re still reading – Here’s why:

Every week you come to this site week looking for help, advice and answers to questions. Sometimes I write posts that I think will be helpful to you. Other times I write posts that are long-form answers to questions that you have asked me directly either here, on Facebook, Twitter or in an email.

A few weeks back I did a Q&A post that received all kinds of great questions and I went through and answered each one briefly as best I could. Last week I took one of the questions from the Q&A and wrote out a longer answer and it turned out to be a pretty good post. I definitely plan on doing it more in the coming weeks.

But what if I could answer your questions more often, in a video format?

YouTube makes it really easy to create and posts videos – and I could probably do a video answer in a few minutes as compared to spending several hours typing up a blog post.

The video channel would not replace the writing I do here, it would happen separately and mean more content coming out on a regular basis.

In my own experience, YouTube answered my questions really well. I used it to learn just about everything I know about working out, intermittent fasting and leangains.

What Do You Think?

I think it’s a good idea. But I want to see what you think before I set it all up. I mean, if there’s no interest in a video channel – then setting it up would be a waste of time.

Would Q&A videos be helpful for you? If so – let me know.

I’ve posted a video on YouTube explaining things further and if I get some subscribers and video likes, I’ll get started right away. Be sure to like, comment and subscribe to let me know what you think.

yeah man, sure .. always video :)! Really simple to understand, really easy for u to answer, so why not. Already seems like you have a bunch of interesting questions that I haven’t thought about so it would be a win for all of us!

    • Malan Darras

Petre – yeah i have a pile of questions.. it’ll be easy to find stuff to post.

  • Bronson

Yes, definitely. Video helps you come across as more personal and real. I’d watch

    Diversify bruh

  • Victor Manuel Mejia

PS: Video seems trippy or im on acid.

    • Malan Darras

yeah, it looks like the Youtube capture iPhone app makes the video kinda wobbly for some reason… i’ve looked at several other people’s videos with it and they all do it. Not sure why yet.

  • Mike Drummond

Malan, maybe you could do a screencast of a google hangout of people from your industry and answer questions through debate over best principles. Be cool to see the ideas get thrown around. But through the hangout you can be anywhere in the world. Its worth a thought.

  • Stipe S.

Video would be great if you are going to show some screencasts and real examples about the process of optimization, tracking, analytics and stuff like that. But if you are just going to answer the questions I prefer podcast. I love to listen to Charles over and over while I’m working. It really motivates me.

    • Malan Darras

hey Stipe – im a big fan of podcasts too, maybe in the future. i’m looking at doing the youtube thing because

      1) i already know how to do it and
      2) it takes very little time to record a video no my phone and post it.

thanks for your comments and feedback brotha

  • drngo

    That’d be great!

I’m avoiding video for now and focusing on podcast. Too many things to do, but I’ll probably get into small vine videos soon.

    • Malan Darras

yeah man you have the audio locked down and it’s great. looking forward to your full-on podcast. video is easy for me – i actually had an online video show before YouTube existed… haha so much easier now.

  • Edgar Ochoa

Well, I think it’ll be a great Malan… mainly for our benefit (thank you!) – as you will be able to provide answers much faster and maybe even walk us through a few tutorials 🙂

    • Malan Darras

yeah i guess that means i’ll have to figure out how to do screencasts… haha. subscribers are picking up so it just might happen.

  • James Jones

Thumbs up for the idea! Would be cool.

    • Malan Darras

thanks James, did you Subscribe? it’s getting close

      • James Jones

I forgot to, actually. 🙂 I did now, just to show support for your channel. I’m kind of old fashioned and wait for email or RSS notifications about new content – I don’t care much for FB, Twitter, etc. 😉

        • Malan Darras

i hear that. i currently have FB, Twitter and Instagram deleted from my phone and blocked on my computer or about 1/2 the day. thanks for the sub

  • PG

Awesome idea Malan, keep the great content coming. Subscribed & thumbs-up’ed! Bytw re your Q&A post still ok to post a question/comment?

    • Malan Darras

Yeah sure. You can still post questions there. I’m going to put up some sort of Question form later on but for now that post is still good.

      • PG

Awesome will do. Thanks so much for getting back to me.

  • Malan Darras

Well, we just hit 100 subscribers to it looks it’s going to happen. Thanks everybody and I’ll see you soon at
